Theater was Julia's first love.
She identifies as a "character actor" born for comedy. But every comedy has drama!
Some of her favorite roles were Baby with the Bathwater (Nanny / Principal), 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Rona Peretti), and Disney's Beauty and the Beast (Mrs. Potts).
She looks for any excuse to return to the stage.
Other productions above include Arms and the Man (Catherine), Disney's Mary Poppins (Mrs. Banks), The Neverending Story (Morla / Urgl), and Tales from the Arabian Nights (Genie).
Among receiving awards for other supporting roles, Julia's portrayal of Catherine Petkoff in Shaw's Arms and the Man at GCU earned her a KCACTF acting nomination and an AriZoni nomination. Phoenix Stages gave a glowing review of her performance.
The KCACTF nomination led to her competing for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship in 2020 against roughly 300 actors. With the help of her scene partner, Brandon Caraco, she made the top 16 finalists! While there is no third place, she received a certificate of recognition from the Voice and Speech Trainers Association for vocal excellence.
